Welcome
About us
The Chabeli Majara Foundation was established in 2018 to honour the memory of Mr. & Mrs. Chabeli, the parents of the founder, Michael. The founder acknowledges the values of family and education that his parents instilled in him growing up in Soweto one of nine siblings.
Our Focus
We aim to provide funding that unleashes the potential of students who have a year or two remaining to complete their first degree or diploma. While many students benefit from a wide range of funding programmes and eventually graduate, a large group do not. These are students who have the ability, record of academic success, and determination to handle the demands of a university program. Many obtain funding which they hope would cover the entire program of study. But, with only a year or two left, and for lack of funding, they are unable to graduate. This can often lead to unsafe choices.
How we operate
The Chabeli Majara Foundation is administered by a group of dedicated Trustees who work on a voluntary basis, setting strategic priorities and operational plans for the Foundation, assessing applications, interviewing select prospective beneficiaries, managing resources, determining award levels and modes of disbursement, leading sustainable fundraising initiatives, and forming strategic partnerships with organisations that share the same vision as the Foundation.
WHAT OUR
FUNDING COVERS
Funding covers tuition, books, and a modest monthly stipend for basic needs. Funding does not cover accommodation and transportation.
